1995 Collector's Choice SE #94 Gold Signature

Card Review: 9.1 This is the gold variation of the '95 SE card.  This was actually sent to me by a reader, unsolicitated no less.  It's the first time I've picked up a card I didn't already have in that manner, hopefully it won't be the last.  In 1995 I would have gladly traded a finger for a gold variation.  Internet shopping didn't exist, and card shops weren't wasting shelf space of junk wax commons, not even the gold ones.  Today, it's a welcome addition and one less card I need to track down, though I'm keeping all my fingers.  I like the Silver, Blue and Gold variations all about the same.  The gold does have a sort of vintage look that I like, but they're all pretty nice cards.

1995 Collector's Choice SE #94 Silver Signature

Card Review: 9.1 I'm not sure if I like this any better or worse than the blue base card.  These came one to a pack.  And I bought a lot of packs of these in '95.  That was at the tail end of my pack buying days before I took about 15 years off as other interests didn't leave any room for card collecting.  These were "only" a dollar pack.  This was right around the time that prices were getting really insane, even Topps had stopped putting gum in it's packs and gone north of the $1 a pack line.

1995 Collector's Choice SE #94

Card Review: 9.1  This really isn't a bad card.  The blue's a little loud, but I can live with it, and the back of the card is great.  These cards were one of the few sets at the time not to cost an insane amount for a pack.  I'm pretty sure they were a dollar a pack.

This was one of the last sets that I bought a lot of packs of before going on a pack buying hiatus for about twelve years.  In '95 I bought a lot of Topps, a lot of this SE, and a good amount of Fleer (don't ask me why).  In '96 I bought a decent amount of Topps chasing the non-existent Wallach, and in '97 I bought a few packs of Topps hoping for another non-existent Wallach.  I dind't buy another pack of cards until 2008 after that.
