1994 Stadium Club #217 1st Day Issue

Card Review: 8.5  This is the 4th (and I believe final) variation of the '94 Stadium Club Wallach.  Of the three "fancy" ones I like this one the best.  But I prefer just the clean base card to all of them.  Way too many gimmicks for my taste.

1994 Stadium Club Member's Only #217

Card Review: 7.4 This card is basically the same as the regular '94 Stadium Club, but it has a stupid little "member's only" logo stamped on the front.  I'm not sure how one became a member, or what the benefits were, other than cards slightly uglier than the regular cards.  Thankfully, there are fewer of these uglier versions floating around than the standard version, and the standard version is a pretty nice looking card.  It's tough to tell for sure where this photo was taken, given Wallach's in a road jersey, but if it's a road stadium (and not a spring training facility), I'd be curious to know how many ball parks had indoor hitting cages for the road teams back in the early 90's.

1994 Stadium Club Golden Rainbow #217

Card Review: 7.2  These "golden rainbow" variants are much uglier than the base card.  These card companies were just flat out shameless in the mid-90's as far as gimmicks like this went.  And collector's were flat out stupid for eating them all up.

Fun Facts: The #52 patch is for Tim Crews

1994 Stadium Club #217

Card Review: 8.6 This card has a solid front design, but the back is heinous.  The way the name was done on these cards has not aged well.  But what I considered a so-so picture on the front at the time, as become one of my favorites.
Fun Facts: *The black #52 patch on the sleeve was a memorial to the late Tim Crews
* Wallach finished 18th in 1994 NL MVP voting
* Wallach was 10th in the NL in RBI's in 1994
* Wallach was the NL Comeback Player of the year in 1994
