Newburgh, Indiana
This nice assortment of 17 cards was sent by David in Newburgh, Indiana. Newburgh is now the latest addition to the map of where cards have been sent from. This is the first '85 Leaf and '88 Topps Tiffany All-Star that I have received in the mail from a reader.
David's a Pirates fan and makes reference to a game from 1990 that he attended, and saw Wallach knock Pirate's All-Star ace Doug Drabek from a game with a double. Wallach had a great season in 1990 that saw him finish 4th in the NL in hits, 5th in Total Bases, 8th in RBI's and win another Gold Glove.
I took to Baseball-Reference and dug up the boxscore to the game David was at. The game was a 6-2 Expos win on August 8, 1990. The Great Dennis Martinez threw a complete game for the Expos, striking out 5 and only walking 1, while scattering 6 hits. Wallach's double off of Drabek came in the top of the 7th and drove in Tim Raines. Bob Kipper replaced Drabek, and promptly struck out Larry Walker to end what was a 4 run 7th for the Expos.
