ebay Madness

I'll be the first to admit.  It's a little weird to collect all these Wallach cards the way I do.  I'm okay with that.  But there is a limit to my madness.  Since I started this blog, I've noticed a few sellers on ebay who seem to have also taken notice of this blog.  For instance, there was one who would repeatedly list single Wallach cards, like say, a 1988 Topps All-Star from the base set, at $5 on ebay.  Multiple listings of single, common Wallach's for $5 a pop.  Now, sometimes people list cards at crazy prices.  I assume its people who just don't know what they're doing.  Like if I was given a box of 1970's marbles, I wouldn't know how to list them or what to ask for.  So I checked their other items, and they didn't have any other $5 cards.  They had other cards, but they were priced in a half-way sane manner.

Yes, I want all the Wallach cards out there.  No I will not pay $5 for a card that list for 1 to 8 cents.  There is a limit to my insanity.  I didn't take screen shots of every listing when this particular seller was trying to bait me (I assume) into bankruptcy.  But, I have since started a collection of screen shots featuring insane Wallach listings that may or may not be inspired by this blog.

The above is a blank back error for $200.  No thank you.  I don't have any blank backs (I do have a blank front '89 Topps), and wouldn't mind owning one.  But not for $200, not even if the shipping is free.  Fifty cents sounds fair to me.  Now, I don't believe there was '82 Wallach printed without black ink, but even that wouldn't be something I'd go $200 deep for.  Though it would certainly push the rare $10 thresh hold

An 1988 Topps All-Star, as described above.  Since this card is the mast head of this blog, I've been saving it as the last card I will feature once I run out of cards to list.  (Spoiler Alert)  I currently have 107 of them.  Not one did I have to pay anywhere near $5 for.  In fact, 18 cents is the most I've ever paid for one, and frankly, that felt a little steep.

Another seller, I guess trying to be "reasonable." I only have 105 of Wallach's 1990 Donruss.  I'd like to have more.  But if they're going to cost $2.99 apiece, I can live with 105.

  1. LOL - Awesome.

I've got a healthy stack of Wallachs growing for you as well, but I'm not shipping them until I've been through all my cards. I'll keep you posted...
