These cards arrived from Al in Brantford, Ontario. Also included was a copy of the Sportsnet Magazine to feature this blog, and 30 AP Laser Wire photos from 1989-90. When Al told me he had these "laser wire photos" to send, my first thought was, "What's a laser wire photo?" In a nutshell, they're photos the AP sent to newspapers for publishing via a goosed up fax machine. I'll go into more detail later, as I'm going to devote a couple of post to the photos, but for now, you can read a summary by clicking the example photo below.

ReplyDeleteWe used to have loads of those AP laser photos everywhere in the news room during the early '90s. It never dawned on us at the time that they might be collectible.
